Every person facing a legal determination is entitled to a fair, independent, and appropriately timely process.
Overview
A fair process includes knowing the case, being heard, having time and means to respond, and receiving an impartial decision.
Being denied meaningful notice, representation, or an opportunity to respond
Undue delay, interference, or a decision-maker who is not impartial
Move to a safe place or seek urgent help where immediate danger exists.
Write down what happened, when, where, and who was involved, if it is safe to do so.
Keep relevant documents or evidence securely and share only what is necessary.
Keep copies of notices, decisions, dates, and requests for assistance where it is safe and lawful to do so.
