On 17 August 2026, the KAAH Political Party submitted a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission concerning efforts by security institutions to arrest the party's spokesperson. The complaint alleged intimidation and suppression connected to freedom of expression.
Acting on the complaint, the Commission visited Police Headquarters and Somaliland's Ministry of Interior and Security.
The Commission appointed a four-member investigation team: Mustafe Cali Cismaan, Deputy Chairperson; Garyaqaan Maxamed Jaamac Ibraahim, Commissioner; Muuna Jaamac Cali, Commissioner; and Baashe Maxamuud Faarax (Dhaaciye), Commissioner.
The Commission stated that it will share a detailed report with the public and the relevant institutions once its investigation is complete.
